Nestled within a coffee estate in the outskirts of Arusha, bordering Maasai land, lies the stunning "Meru House LEKISILAI” - designed and built by architect-owner.
We are conveniently located 4km after the Arusha Airport, towards the popular safari circuit of Tarangire, N'gorongoro & Lake Manyara National Parks. Our rooms and cottages are surrounded by coffee trees, acacia and vibrant flowers and birds. All bedrooms are decorated with a mixture of luxurious Zanzibari style and modern hardwood furnishing. We invite you to feel at home in the peaceful and welcoming ambience with a fireplace lit in the evenings. Many exotic birds such as fly catchers, lilac-breasted rollers and hornbills have made this paradise oasis their home. Our green and picturesque location makes it an ideal spot for a family or a group of friends to relax, perhaps before or after a safari. |
"Meru House LEKISILAI" derives half its name from the majestic Mount. Meru, of which there is an unrivaled view from the hotel. The second half, "Lekisilai", also honours a nearby mountain - one held sacred by our Maasai neighbours.
Over 150 tribes inhabit Tanzania. The Maasai, for one, arrived in this part of the Great Rift Valley around 200 years ago! Their arrival had a profound effect on the area & its wildlife. Today, Maasai Land cradles the greatest wildlife spectacles left on earth. |
